5 Reasons To Apply For The Marriott Bonvoy Business Card

The American Express Bonvoy Business Card is an American Express credit card that is currently offering a Bonus of 75,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points if you apply and make $3,000 of purchases within the first three months.  This card has earns 6 points per dollar on all Marriott purchases, 4 points for U.S. restaurants, U.S. Gas Stations, Wireless Services and Shipping.  It earns 2 points on all other purchases.  Adding this card could help you gain a higher level of status, as it offers 15 elite nights, it also comes with an annual Free Night Award and Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status.  It has an $125 annual fee

15 Elite Night Credits

Unlike my post about the Hilton Surpass card, the Marriott Bonvoy Business card’s best feature is the 15 Elite Nights.  in Marriott’s Bonvoy program there are 5 levels of status, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador.  50 Elite Nights per year is required to earn Platinum Status.  All Marriott credit cards give you 15 Elite Night credits, including all of the American Express and Chase cards.  If you have more than 1 personal Marriott credit card you would only earn 15 Elite Nights but if you also apply for this card you would earn 30 Elite Nights and only need 20 more nights during the the year to qualify for Platinum status.

75,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points

If you spend atleast $3,000 over the first three months of card membership you would earn atleast 81,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.  Marriott has a lot of properties that are priced in the range of 35,000 points.  At that price you would have enough points for two nights.  If you wanted to use the points all for one night, you could book a Ritz Carlton or St Regis for around 70k – 80k per night.

Free Night Award

Another great feature is that you will earn a Free Night Award that can be used for a room upto 35,000 points per night.  This card is what is known as a sock drawer card.  Once you get the bonus, it doesn’t make sense to use it anymore unless you are using it at Marriott properties.  It doesn’t require any additional spending to get the Free Night Award.  Marriott also announced a points top up feature that will let you add upto 15,000 points to a Free Night Award booking so you can book a 50,000 point hotel.

Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite Status

This card also comes with Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status.  Some of the benefits of Silver Elite status are earning 10% bonus points on paid stays, free wifi, Mobile Check In and Mobile Key which lets you open your door with your phone.  It also offers Priority Late Checkout.  I recently took advantage of that benefit while I was staying in St Louis for work and had a flight in the afternoon.

You Have Received Bonus Offer’s on Other Marriott Cards

If you have signed up for other Marriott Bonvoy cards you may not be able to receive the bonus offer on them again.  American Express only allows you to receive a bonus offer on each card once per lifetime.  There have been reports of people receiving a bonus many years later after closing a card and opening it and you can downgrade a card to a card with a lower annual fee and possibly receive an upgrade offer later. One point is a lot of people think, I don’t have a business and can’t get a business credit card.  You can open an account as a Sole Proprietorship using your SSN instead of an EIN number.  If you sold something on Ebay or Offer Up or even had a garage sale then you have a business.  Click Here to Signup with my Referral link
