I recently stayed at the Element in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Element is an extended stay brand that is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. I was there in my quest to retain my Marriott Titanium status.  Marriott is currently running a promotion offering 1,000 Bonus Bonvoy Points and 1 Extra Elite Night per stay. In order to reach Titanium status, I would need to obtain 75 elite nights. Stay tuned for more posts coming soon about hotel elite status, why you would want it and what type of benefits you can get from it. You can click HERE to register for this promotion.

The Booking

I booked my room on  In total, I paid $206.36 for two nights.  The Room rate was $88.00.  This was a great rate considering that they often charge anywhere from $150 – $230 per night.  I also could have used 20,000 Bonvoy points or a Free Night Certificate.  I chose to pay for the room because I would not have received the extra Elite Night credits if I had used points or certificates. Keep reading for an even better rate that I got on this hotel coming up in April.

The Room

I booked a standard King room. Unfortunately the hotel did not have any upgrades available.  As a Titanium member,  I often get upgraded but they were completely sold out on the dates I stayed.  The first thing that I found unusual was I had to put an extra room key in a slot near the door to power the room.  This is very common in hotels in Europe but I have never seen this in the US.  Since Element Hotels are by Westin, the room featured a Westin Heavenly bed which had 2 USB wall ports on each side and even 2 usb ports on the alarm clock.  Westin beds are known for being one of the most comfortable beds you can find in a hotel.  There was also a comfortable chaise lounge with a side table.

The hotel room key needs to be inserted to power the room
Comfortable bed with enough USB ports to charge your accessories
Smart TV which built in Youtube, Netflix and Amazon Prime apps
Kitchenette featuring a microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker and more

The Lobby

The Lobby featured multiple sitting areas where you can relax and or even work from the lobby.  There is a snack area in the lobby featuring food and drink options available for purchase.  The Lobby is where they have Breakfast served in the morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Currently the only dining option was the complimentary breakfast which is offered to all guests, unlike other hotel brands where having Elite status is needed.   With Marriott Platinum status and higher free breakfast is offered as a Welcome Gift.  The hotel manager told me they are starting a complimentary evening happy hour soon. I’m looking forward to that, as I also booked this hotel at a even better rate in April.

Breakfast featured Bananas, Oranges, Muffins, Bagels and Scones

The hotel is located on the West side of Knoxville.  It is only a ten minute drive to Downtown Knoxville.  There are many restaurant options, a Kroger grocery store and an AMC movie theatre located within a few minutes walk from the hotel.  The nearby restaurants include Tennessee Taphouse, K Town Tavern, Parkside Grill, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, and Outback Steakhouse.

The hotel features a gym, laundry facilities and bikes available for rent.  Since this is an extended stay hotel with a kitchenette, they offer less amenities than other hotel brands.

The Element Knoxville West is a great option considering, they offer free breakfast to all guests.  Unfortunately they do not have a restaurant or bar but there are several options nearby.  I did like that the TV was a Smart TV and I was able to watch streaming services. I will be back in April before the Extra Elite Night promotion ends.  I booked this hotel from April 22 to April 24th $82.08.  That includes room rate and taxes for 2 nights.  If they have the evening happy hour by then that will make it even better!  it is interesting, if you try to book this hotel for those days now, it is sold out.  According to Marriott’s Ultimate Reservation Guarantee, if they do not honor the reservation, I would be entitled to them booking me at another hotel, a credit for $100 and 90,000 Bonvoy points since I have Platinum or higher status.

Marriott Booking

See you in April, Element Knoxville West, if not be ready to book me in another hotel, give me $100 and 90,000 Bonvoy points!
